POST Testers

Anyone using POST testers? Are they actually useful?

I'm looking at the Elston unit that Cyberguys sells. It has both ISA and PCI interfaces. It sounds good, but I have no experience with this type of tester.

There are also a bunch of ISA/PCI ones for cheap on eBay.

However, don't for a second believe them that you can insert the card reversed in a slot. I toasted a motherboard doing that--blew the Southbridge chip.

Good thing that it wasn't an important system.
