Hello Folks,

I am working on getting my recently acquired PDT-11/150 running and have found that the drive belts from both RX01 (ish?) drives have fallen off.

They have lost their condition over the years and need replacing.

Does anyone here know of a suitable replacement?

Thanks,

Andy.

This comes up from time to time.

The short answer is that no one was making them in any quantity in 2010. I haven't seen much discussion of a source for new belts lately. But we see hobbyists re-inventing various wheels frequently around here. It doesn't seem like a floppy drive belt would be in the "rocket surgery" department.

Acquire suitable rubberized non stretchy fabric.
Cut to width
Cut to length
Place in a suitable precision fixture
Weld the ends together.

It would seem I may have posted too soon ;-)

Thanks for the suggestions Folks.

I've got a turntable belt on order now but the lack of reinforcement is a bit of a problem. I'll see what else I can drum up.

Thanks again,

Andy.

I didn't check the previous links, but just want to leave a link to this BC store which carries a lot of older stuff http://www.mainelectronics.com/belts.htm

From their website:

Code:

Updates will be posted below (when possible) for where our inventory has moved to.

We sincerely thank you for your continued support since 1971!"[/B]

A quick progress report.

I bought a couple of 590mm belts from http://www.beltingonline.com/flat-endless-belts-13049. However, the tolerances are +-1.5% and so the 590mm belt was actually shorter than the 588mm belt it replaced. I ordered a couple of 600mm belts and there was enough adjustment in the drive motor for me to get them to fit comfortably.

Things are looking up for my little PDT but I'm not out of the woods yet... http://www.randomorbit.co.uk/?p=1347

Cheers,

Andy
