Serial COM1 problems on an IBM AT

Thanks for everyone who helped.

The faulty IBM PC AT motherboard has been replaced with an XT 286. Mouse and PC are back in working order with a 6 V battery held in its original carrier.

When/if the AT motherboard gets fixed it will rejoin the set of IBM PC’S used to display various versions of Windows.
