I moved to supporting and programming the DS990 after working for NCR as pre/post sales support analyst programmer on their 399 and 499 computers and likewise for Sperry Univac's BC7. The company Peter Pan Playthings in Peterborough (UK), had an installed DS990. My task was to integrate the whole business on the one machine, from production, wages, stock, sales, invoicing and sales ledgers. After completing that task I moved out to Saudi Arabia as Software Manager the supplier of Texas Instruments with the Kingdom and surrounding countries working mainly on the DS990. I left the Middle East in 1988.

I too have a DS990 Model 1 and a FD1000 dual 8" disk drive unit. I am currently in the process of cleaning up the disk drive unit, so I can attempt to create an interface to a PC to create disk images of the few disks I have. I have no idea if they still work - the machine sat in a very hot and dusty shed for many years so I have little hope. Once that is done, I'll be cleaning up the system unit itself.

Very old thread this but here goes. I now have Ross's DS990 and FD1000 setup and after a good cleaning it seems ready to try and boot from the FD1000.
I have no disks or images that suit the DS990/1 could anyone help source an image please ? I see Piero has a YT video showing his booting from a Gotek. Would love to see the cable config, Gotek settings and get hold of those boot disk images please.
