Commodore Superpet SP9000

Yes, for the languages to work, you need the disks from the link that was posted above to Mike's site. I just couldn't get the disks to work but it was probably my set up. I had an 8050 drive that was flaky and tried it from a Commodore Flyer, if I recall correctly.

Good luck.

I have a PetDisk that I bought from Gubbish that is really useful on the Pets. I'll have to get hold of the files and try it out!
I think I'll have to do some research on the pet now it's working, I know I wrote it earlier but whoever threw it out
wants a good talking too!:D But then again I probably would never have been able to buy it as they seem highly priced!

Full marks Pet Rescue!

If you PM me with your 'real' e-mail address I will ZIP up the 'undongled' disks and my 'idiots' guide to running the SP9000 software from the disks I have.

I think (and this is going back a while now so my memory may not be 100% about this) that the images I did were for a 4040 disk drive unit as opposed to an 8050.

excellent work , well done. The damaged case could be repaired I'm sure although it would need repainting.

Im impressed it managed to power up :-)

Thanks mjnurney, I have kept and used the metal base, it is a bit scratched but it straightened out quite nicely so I only used the top case and monitor from my 8032.
It doesn't look too bad sitting under the good hood, I'll have to give it a paint up later on! I was totally amazed it powered up and was quite relieved to hear those chirps!

Thanks Dave I'll PM you my email, thanks for that!

Dave I tried the disks by converting them to prg files and put them on the PetDisk, the pet recognised the disk in 6502 mode but when in 6809 mode it delayed like it was looking for the program but came up file not found. I will have to get my 8050 down from the loft and make a couple of real disks and try the original hardware.

Did you just copy the PRG files only? If memory serves me correctly, there are a couple of SEQ files with 'funny' names that you need as well. You can get away with only the specific PRG files for the languages you are planning to use on a disk - but the SEQ files *** HAVE *** to be present.

Did you also see some 'disk' activity when you selected a specific 'language' from the menu? If not, you may have incorrect device numbers allocated.

Dave

I also have a PetDisk and couldn't use it with those disk either. Now I remember why. I had to use the Commodore Flyer that also has a PET disk port but even then I wasn't sure if it would work and didn't for me but it might also be my SuperPET. Will try the 4040 disks tomorrow on a 4040.

Hi Dave I copied all the files PRG and SEQ file extensions, I saw some disk activity as there was a longer delay when trying to load files.
What device numbers do you allocate?

snuci I'm sure it's an error with the PetDisk in 6809 mode as in 6502 it sees the files!

According to my PDF file - Waterloo Software Disk Image #1 was assigned to disk8.

After looking myself - I can't remember 100% whether the D64 images were for a 4040 or 8050 disk drive.

I took the disk images from http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/pet/SuperPET/ and patched them to work without the 6702. Others have verified that these disk images physically work with a real SP9000.

This website (http://www.vintagecomputer.net/browse_thread.cfm?id=580) has some information on running the SP9000 with a 4040 disk unit.

You should be able to use the original disks from http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/pet/SuperPET/ - PASCAL should start by typing 'p' - it is just that the editor will not function correctly without the 6702 device being fitted (but the PASCAL language will actually load and run without the 6702).

Hi Dave, I'd like the images and guide if you still have them. I'm a new user so cannot send you a PM yet.

Thanks,
Kyle

Reading this on my phone whilst waiting for a flight .... I could never get the PETdisk or tynemouth SD2pet to work with the Superpet in 6809 mode. The PETsd+ and also Steve Greys cbm sd mini works just fine.
