Commodore CBM 8032	$1495
Franklin Ace 1000	$1595

Note that the Franklin came with 64K RAM while the Apple only came with 16K, so that's why the Franklin cost more.

That's odd, I bought my first Apple II, a II+, in 1981 in Van Nuys, Ca and it came standard with 48k of RAM. The store was having a sale, they were selling the II+ at their price. So I bought the computer, a Disk II drive and a few games for a little over $1500. Being in the Air Force at the time, and not making a lot of money, I didn't buy a monitor because I couldn't afford it so I also bought a modulator to hook the II+ up to my small portable color tv to use it as a monitor.

I didn't think Apple was still selling the 16K option as late as 1982!

The Datapro book also says you could have your choice of either the II or the II+ for the same price. That may have been true when the II+ was first introduced and Apple was selling off remaining stock of the II, but I didn't think they'd still have any regular II's left as of 1982.
