Research Machines 380Z key switch ?

Any of you folks double up as locksmiths in your spare time ?

If you do, could you identify this key type please ?

Its the on/off switch for my latest acquisition and I could really use a key for it.
I supposed i COULD replace the switch if I had to though.....

RM380Z, nice. I would love one but they tend to go for too much money.

I'd take the switch out and show it to a locksmith.

Hi,
On my 380Z lock I removed it and found a spot to drill through to allow disassembly of the lock. I then took it to a locksmith who made a key for £5 (might be about 8 years ago now). However the lock in the photo doesn't look familiar so might be different to my one. unfortunately. I'll have to dig my 380Z out and check.

I'll be interested in how you get on with this. My 380Z fortunately is locked in the ON position so it's a low priority fix but it'd be nice to get a key made. Local locksmiths in town just ran away.

Bit of an update. I just acquired another two 380Z machines - one with a key and one without. The key is not a universal fit for all the machines - shame as I now need to replace another lock.

As an update to this thread

It appears the keyswitch used by RS was a Yale TOK and new keys can be cut by supplying the locksmith with the number engraved on the keyswitch bezel

Yeah, I forgot to follow up that I used this company in the UK to provide me with some replacements
I can't recommend them enough - very helpful, quick and reasonably priced

I note that you say Yale TOK - I have no idea whether/how that differs from the Yale RST keys that worked for me.

I originally believed they were TOK keys as the description from Yale is that they are keyswitch locks and the image was identical to a TOK, but your right, the switch faceplace itself says RS T which Yale describe as filing cabinet keys.

Keys themselves look identical, but the cutting pattern must be RST.

Just to close this out finally

TOK and RS T are the same. Just had a TOK11 and an RST11 cut and they have the same profile and they both operate the keyswitch.
