For Sale: spotted on Craigslist (continuous sightings)

Just came across this forum when I googled altair 8800.
I found one when going through my fathers estate. He was a self taught software engineer and had lots of "junk" to go through.
whats the best way to value this 8800 looks to be in very good confition and "works" when plugged in.
What do I look for on the inside?

I could be willing to sell but just haven't decided yet. I have little interest in it but my son thinks its cool.

Thanks for your help

In working order, completeness and cosmetic condition they sell for quite a bit (and in a lot of cases even if they don't), one of the more desirable pieces of vintage computer gear. You can peruse old eBay completed listings for an idea... there's a semi-busted one on there right now, no bids and at that starting price might be just a little too ambitious:

As with all things, originality, completeness, documentation, peripherals, etc.

Take pics of what you have and post in the S-100 forum and we can give you a better idea.

Cool.

I have noticed CL prices have been escalating in 2015/6.

Sometimes people also list but then tell me "digging it up out of storage is too much hassle". CL flakes abound.

The company I work for used to have the same model of IBM line printer in their accounting department, up until 2008 or so. It still worked fine, but we had to retire it because the "computer paper" it used had to be special-ordered and the cost of the paper was becoming prohibitive.

It must be a regional thing. The local Office Depot stocks tractor-feed 14" "blue bar" paper. Cost is not too awful.

I'll say. They only stock 9" plain here. Not only do they not know it, they tell you you're wrong when you go in and tell them that they have it and you want to buy it. And yes, I tried multiple stores.
